A fire at Plum Landing Retirement Community in Aurora on Thursday night sent one resident to the hospital, officials said.
The fire was contained to a single apartment on the fifth floor of the facility at 495 N. Lake St. and did not spread to any other units, according to a news release from the Aurora Fire Department.
Officials said in the release that one resident was found inside the apartment at the time of the fire, and they were transported to Ascension Mercy medical center in Aurora in stable condition.
No other injuries were reported, and the building remains habitable with no other residents being displaced, the release said.
The two-alarm fire prompted a response at 9:37 p.m. that included four engine companies, two truck companies, three medic units and two chief officers for a total of 28 personnel, according to the release.
Officials said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
