Former Chicago Bears head coach Mike Ditka buys Streeterville condo for $575,000

Former Super Bowl-winning Chicago Bears head coach Mike Ditka and his wife, Diana, on Nov. 12 paid $575,000 for a two-bedroom, 2,143-square-foot condominium on the 30th floor of a Streeterville high-rise.

With the purchase, the Ditkas now are once again owners in the same building where they had owned a two-bedroom, 1,904-square-foot condo on the 39th floor from 2000 until late 2023.

The Ditkas’ new condo has two bathrooms, a marble entry and hardwood floors throughout the living room and dining room.

The unit first had been listed in August for $599,000, and the Ditkas wound up paying the exact same amount — $575,000 — that they had gotten for the sale of their 39th-floor unit a year ago.

Emily Sachs Wong, who represented the Ditkas in their new purchase, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The Ditkas could not be reached for comment.

The Ditkas have had some kind of presence in the area for much of the time since the six-time All-Pro tight end for the Bears exited as head coach in 1992. The couple previously had owned a house in Bannockburn until selling it in 1997, and they then paid $700,000 in 2000 for their first Streeterville condo.

In recent years, however, the couple had been based in Naples, Fla., where they have a 4,294-square-foot house that they built in 2002.

Now, the couple have resumed a real estate presence in Chicago.

The Ditkas’ new condo had a $13,870 property tax bill in the 2023 tax year, along with a $1,483-a-month homeowners association fee.
