Former Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan is scheduled to speak around 7:30 p.m. Thursday night at the Democratic National Convention where Vice President Kamala Harris will accept her nomination as the party’s presidential nominee.
Elected to four terms, Madigan was Illinois’ attorney general at the same time Harris was the attorney general in California from 2011 to 2017.
The DNC’s decision to grant Madigan a speaking slot at the DNC was revealed around 5 p.m. when the party released a list of speakers for the final night of the convention. It’s a curious decision by the national party given Madigan’s father, former Illinois Speaker of the House Michael Madigan, is facing a federal corruption trial that is expected to begin in October.
Lisa Madigan has never been mentioned in any of the actions related to the charges against her father.
