On Wednesday, the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office announced that a St. Charles man and former PTO president has been sentenced to five years in prison for grooming a child.
According to a press release from the state’s attorney’s office, Edward T. Izenstark, 38, of the 1100 block of Geneva Road in St. Charles, pleaded guilty on Dec. 12, 2024, to charges of indecent solicitation of a child, traveling to meet a minor, grooming and solicitation of a sexual act.
He was sentenced by Kane County Circuit Judge John Barsanti.
In court, Kane County Assistant State’s Attorneys Amanda Busljeta and Ken Hudson said the grooming occurred between July and August 2023, according to the press release.
On Aug. 12, 2023, around 10:20 p.m., Izenstark drove from his St. Charles home to a parking lot in South Elgin intending to perform sexual acts on the victim in exchange for money, according to the release. After Izenstark confirmed he was in the parking lot, the victim called 911, the release stated.
Izenstark began communicating with the minor on July 8, 2023, via FaceTime, phone calls and text messages, officials said in the release. At the time, Izenstark was president of the Thompson Middle School Parent Teacher Organization in St. Charles, the release stated.
Izenstark will serve all the counts concurrently for a total sentence of five years in state prison, according to the release.
In addition to the prison term, Izenstark must register for 10 years as a sexual offender in accordance with the Illinois Sexual Offender Registration Act, officials said.
