A Franklin Park man has been indicted on federal charges of bank robbery where, in most cases, he also used a weapon and made out with tens of thousands of dollars, holding up banks in Park Ridge, Niles and other suburbs as part of a spree that started in October 2023, according to the FBI Chicago office.
In a news release, the FBI office states that German Campos Jr., 24, of Franklin Park, an indictment was handed down Wednesday by a federal grand jury charging him with bank robbery and “brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.”

He is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 24.
According to the indictment, Campos is charged with robbing U.S. Bank branches Elmhurst, Schaumburg and Niles, and a BMO Bank location in Park Ridge. The court documents indicate the robberies started with the first Schaumburg hold up on Oct. 18, 2023, and the last one was nearly two months ago on Aug. 28 in Niles.
Campos Jr. allegedly stole $3,858 during the heist Aug. 9 at the BMO Bank in Park Ridge, 615 Busse Road, where authorities say he also displayed a gun, the indictment states.
Then about two weeks later on Aug. 28, he stole $16,312 during an armed robbery of the U.S. Bank branch at 8500 W. Dempster St. in Niles, according to the indictment.
Each of the six counts of bank robbery Campos is charged with is punishable by up to 20 years in prison. The five counts of using a firearm in the robberies each carry a mandatory minimum sentence of seven years, according to the FBI news release.
