Gary man charged after throwing kitchen knife at roommate

A Gary man faces charges after he started drunkenly throwing knives at his roommate and the man’s girlfriend while they fled the apartment.

The roommate was stabbed in the buttocks.

Nacarro Ewing, 46, was charged Wednesday with battery resulting in serious bodily injury, battery by means of a deadly weapon and intimidation.

He is in custody, held on a $5,000 cash bond.

His next court date is Sept. 10.

Gary Police responded Sept. 2 to the 800 block of Massachusetts St. The victim, applying pressure to his wound, talked to officers outside.

That day, Ewing went from “happy” drunk to belligerent, the roommate said, over $10 missing from his online bank account.

As the victim and his girlfriend tried to leave, Ewing started throwing knives. The roommate said he managed to dodge a cleaver, before he was hit with the “butcher knife.”

Cops found a butcher knife in front of the apartment.

When officers ordered him out, Ewing opened the door, shirtless. Police yanked him out by his belt and arrested him.
