A Gary man is facing several charges after shooting two women.
Joshua J. Wheatley, 35, was charged Monday with attempted murder, aggravated battery, two counts of domestic battery, and two misdemeanors.
He is in custody, held on a $10,500 cash surety bond.
Gary Police responded Oct. 5 to the 1000 block of New Jersey Street.
The victim told police Wheatley, her friend’s boyfriend, threw a drink in her face, then shot her after she argued she was seeing another woman. The woman was shot in the lower back, buttocks and thigh.
His girlfriend was shot in the arm, court documents state.
Wheatley, fleeing through several backyards, was arrested near 7th Avenue and Illinois Street. He had a gun in a brown paper bag, and blood on his white shirt, the affidavit states.
