Gary Public Transportation Corp. holding meetings for service updates

The Gary Public Transportation Corp. is holding a series of public meetings in the coming weeks to provide updates on current services and planned projects.

The update includes service adjustments to improve efficiency and respond to ridership increases and trends.

Other updates and impacts will focus on Access219, a complementary ride-share program for residents unable to use the fixed route service due to a disability.

Residents can also learn about Cycle219, a bike-share program.

Other topics include special events and programs offered by the city of Gary; stop/station improvements in downtown Gary and new mobility programs for senior citizens in Merrillville.

The public meetings include:

Monday – 10 a.m., J’s Breakfast Club, 2601 Broadway; Wednesday – 3:30 p.m., GPTC Board Room, 100 W. 4th Ave., third floor; March 31 – 2:30 p.m., Hammond Development Corp., 5233 Hohman Ave., and April 7 – 3:30 p.m., Merrillville Town Hall, 7820 Broadway.
