All lanes of Interstate 94 in both directions have been closed between Ind. 249 and U.S. 20 in Portage because of a reported gas leak.
Mayor Austin Bonta said the reported gas leak is in the Ameriplex complex.
Traffic from I-94 is being diverted onto U.S. 20, said Cassandra Bajek, spokesperson for the Indiana Department of Transportation’s Northwest District. She noted how strange it is to see zero vehicles on the INDOT cameras along the closed stretch of I-94.
