Glenview has approved more than $8.3 million in contracts for street, sewer, water and sidewalk repairs at six locations throughout the village.
The Village Board voted unanimously on Jan. 7 to award contracts of up to $4,377,586 to PirTano Construction Co., Inc. of Addison and up to $3,964,393 to DiMeo Brothers, Inc. of Elk Grove Village.
All of the projects are expected to begin in March or April and be completed in August or September.
PirTano was the lowest among seven bidders for extensive work on a half mile of Maple Leaf Drive from Strawberry to Mary Kay lanes and a slightly shorter stretch of Lincoln Street from Colfax Avenue to Golf Road, Deputy Public Works Director Adrian Webb said.
“PirTano is prequalified by (the Illinois Department of Transportation) to complete the components of work included in this project,” Webb said. “PirTano has previously worked in the village of Glenview, and all of their work has been satisfactory.”
The work on Lincoln Street includes installing 1,900 feet of water mains, improving storm and sanitary sewers, replacing curbs and gutters, and reconstructing roadway after utility upgrades are completed, she said.
Maple Leaf Drive will get 2,900 feet of water mains; curb, gutter and sidewalk repairs; storm and sanitary sewer improvements; and pavement repairs after utilities are upgraded, Webb said.
“The village is committed to investing in replacement and rehabilitation of aging pavement and underground infrastructure,” she said.
DiMeo Brothers was the lowest bidder among three companies seeking to perform up to $3,196,088 in work on a combined total of .7 miles of Fir Street from Shermer Road to the Fir Street cul-de-sac, of Cedarwood Lane from Fir to Swainwood Drive, and of Swainwood from its west cul-de-sac to Roosevelt Avenue, officials said.
That work also includes a sidewalk extension on Glenwood Drive directly adjacent to Pleasant Ridge School, according to a report presented to the board by Webb and Assistant Village Manager Zhanna Badasyan.
The work on Swainwood and Cedarwood, they said, includes:
- Installation of 2,400 feet of water mains and services
- Upgrades to storm sewers, including the addition of drainage structures
- Sanitary sewer repair and service replacements
- Curb, gutter and sidewalk repair as needed
- Sidewalk replacement and extension, including the sidewalk path in Swainwood Park
- Pavement resurfacing after utilities are upgraded
The work on Fir Street, they said, includes:
- Installation of 1,200 feet of water mains and services
- Upgrades of about 800 feet of storm sewers ranging from 12-16 inches in diameter
- Sanitary sewer repair and service replacements
- Installation of new curbs and gutters and reconstruction of pavement after utilities are upgraded
“Fir Street was initially constructed without curb and gutter,” Webb and Badasyan said. “In 2023 the residents requested that the village install curb and gutter on their street.”
DiMeo Brothers was also the lowest among three bidders for a quarter mile of work on Valley Lo Lane from Monroe Avenue to Tanglewood Drive, Webb said.
That work includes installation of 1,400 feet of water mains and pavement patching, she said. Phase I of Valley Lo, from Monroe to Wildberry Drive, was completed in 2024, she said.
