Griffith woman charged with threatening Lake judge in voicemail

A Griffith woman faces charges that she threatened Lake County Judge Julie Cantrell in a voicemail left for a Griffith Police social worker.

Julie Lamprecht, 55, was charged Friday with two counts of intimidation.

She is in custody. Her bail was set to $50,000, or $5,000 cash surety Monday.

Her next court date is Jan. 9 before Judge Salvador Vasquez.

Court records show the social worker told cops Lamprecht left her a voicemail at 3:07 a.m. Dec. 9. After the woman checked her work voicemail Dec. 13 and reported it, Lamprecht was charged the same day.

Cantrell is overseeing another intimidation case filed in September 2023 where Lamprecht allegedly threatened Griffith Police Chief Gregory Mance. A change of plea hearing is scheduled Jan. 14.

“I’m gonna shoot the…brains out of her…give me a felony,” Lamprecht said, of Cantrell, in part of the message, according to court records.

Cantrell told cops she wanted to press charges.

The social worker told cops Lamprecht regularly left voicemails at the police department with random topics, mostly harmless messages about celebrities, politicians, or organizations.

Phone logs showed Lamprecht called 170 times in a 41-day period.
