Naperville police logged another firearm-related arrest this week at the Topgolf parking lot — their 14th since the beginning of September.
Leroy Slater, 37 of Hazel Crest, was arrested Monday outside the 3211 Odyssey Court venue on charges of unlawful use of weapons and possession of a controlled substance, according to police records.
The arrest, as has repeatedly been the case for months now, started with an officer performing a foot patrol of the Topgolf lot and observing a gun inside a parked car, Naperville police Cmdr. Ricky Krakow said. Officers set up surveillance on the vehicle and when Slater returned, they arrested him without incident, according to Krakow.
Officers recovered what is believed to be a stolen gun and suspected drugs from the vehicle.
A passenger in the car was released without charge, Krakow said.
Slater’s arrest comes after police made back-to-back gun-related arrests March 30 and 31 at the Topgolf lot.
