A Hammond man faces charges he allegedly threatened a woman interviewed in a recent First Baptist Church of Hammond sex abuse documentary, court records show.
Alexis A. Manrique Marban, 32, was charged Tuesday with intimidation, a Level 6 felony, and false informing, a Class A misdemeanor.
He has not been apprehended and is ordered held on a $15,000, or $1,500 cash surety bond.
A church representative was not immediately available.
The woman told police she was going to a survivor protest at the church on Dec. 17.
Marban allegedly sent her several messages mixed with profanity via Facebook and Instagram on Dec. 12.
“I’m warning you all of you followers…if you stand that day at church, you will see what happens,” one message read.
“You are a dead girl,” another message read.
When Hammond Police went to Marban’s house on Dec. 14, he said he was a parishioner and his Facebook account had been hacked. He said his pastor told him the woman got threatening messages from him.
Investigators found no evidence his account was hacked, noting Marban logged over 90 complaints to Facebook from Dec. 3 to Dec. 13 about supporters or organizers linked to the protest, claiming they were “fake” accounts, “nudity”, “hate speech”, “spam”, or promoting violence.
About one-third were logged against the victim, court records state.
