Hobart man caught with child porn: charges

A Hobart man is facing charges after he was caught with child porn on his cell phone and two laptop computers.

Nathan Stephens, 42, was charged Monday with three counts of possession of child pornography.

He is not in custody, ordered held on a $5,000 cash surety bond.

In a five-page affidavit, investigators allege he had several images in late 2022, including pictures that depict girls as young as toddlers.

Indiana State Police traced it to his IP address. They executed a search warrant and interviewed him in March 2023.

“I am the idiot,” he told investigators.

He admitted he started looking at child porn nearly a decade earlier and put it down to an “Inability to have relationships with women,” the affidavit notes.

During the interview he was cooperative, but “wished he wasn’t there” and “didn’t want to go to jail,” documents state.
