More than three years ago, the overriding theme of the unusual and cruel story of Lyme disease affliction for the Nitkey family of St. Charles was “desperation.” Kelly Nitkey was desperate to get help for her two daughters and granddaughter, all of whom were suffering for years from undiagnosed cases of the disease.
