Illinois improves to 2-0 with a 90-58 rout of SIU Edwardsville

CHAMPAIGN — Tomislav Ivišić scored 18 points to lead five players in double figures as Illinois raced to a 90-58 victory over SIU Edwardsville on Friday night for its second straight win to open the season.

Ivisic dunked just seconds into the game and Tre White hit back-to-back 3-pointers to get Illinois out of the gate. The Fighting Illini used eight 3s to build a 46-28 halftime lead and finished 15 of 38 (39.5%) from distance.

Kasparas Jakučionis had 12 points and 13 assists for Illinois. Ben Humrichous hit 5 of 8 3-pointers and finished with 16 points, while Will Riley added 14 off the bench and White 13. Eleven Illini scored, with six hitting at least one 3-pointer.

Reysean Taylor scored 14 points to lead the Cougars (1-2). Brian Taylor II added 10. SIU Edwardsville hit 20 of 73 from the floor (30.1%) and 6 of 24 (25%) from deep.
