Introducing the 2023-24 News-Sun Girls Basketball All-Area Team

Four Libertyville players and three Stevenson players are among the selections.

FIRST TEAM

Avery Cooper, Lake Zurich, junior, guard/forward: Averaged 9.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists. All-conference and Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Class 4A all-state special mention.

Madison Hoffmann, Grayslake Central, junior, guard/forward: Averaged 16.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 2.7 steals and 1.5 blocks for sectional champion. Conference player of the year, IBCA 3A all-state second team and Illinois Media 3A all-state honorable mention.

Emory Klatt, Stevenson, senior, forward: Averaged 15.0 points and 12.0 rebounds. Conference player of the year, IBCA 4A all-state second team and Illinois Media 4A all-state second team. Committed to DePaul.

Kate Rule, Libertyville, senior, guard: Averaged 11.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 2.5 deflections and 2.1 steals for sectional champion. All-conference and IBCA 4A all-state third team.

Ashley Schlabowske, Carmel, senior, guard: Averaged 15.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 3.5 deflections. All-conference and IBCA 4A all-state special mention. Committed to Wisconsin-Whitewater.

SECOND TEAM

Rylan Foster, Mundelein, senior, forward: Averaged 14.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.0 assists. All-conference.

Nari Powers, Warren, senior, forward/center: Averaged 15.5 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists. All-conference.

Heidi Rathmann, Antioch, sophomore, guard/forward: Averaged 17.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 1.5 blocks. All-conference.

Rachel Rule, Libertyville, senior, guard: Averaged 10.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.4 deflections and 1.9 steals for sectional champion. All-conference and IBCA 4A all-state special mention.

Alyssa Sandquist, Grant, senior, guard: Averaged 15.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals. All-conference.
