Introducing the 2024 Beacon-News/Courier-News Boys Soccer All-Area Team

Following stellar seasons, West Aurora and Elgin lead the way with selections to first team.

First Team

Diego Flores, Dundee-Crown, senior, defender: All-sectional and all-conference selection. Three-year varsity starter and two-time team captain. Scored five goals with four assists.

MJ Hoffman, Oswego East, senior, forward: All-state selection and two-time all-conference selection. Led the Wolves with 16 goals and 10 assists.

Casey Kriz, St. Charles North, senior, defender: All-state and all-conference selection. Scored two goals with four assists. Started all 73 games of his varsity career.

Lachlan Ladd, Waubonsie Valley, senior, forward: All-state and all-conference selection. Scored 18 goals and had seven assists to lead the Warriors in both categories.

Reece Leonard, Geneva, senior, midfielder: All-state selection and all-conference selection. Scored nine goals and added three assists.

Pacifique Ndayishimiye, West Aurora, senior, defender: Ends season by headlining as the 2024 Beacon-News/Courier-News Player of the Year. Two-time all-state selection. Two-time conference MVP. Scored five goals with three assists.

AJ Sabanovic, Streamwood, senior, forward: Two-time all-state selection. Three-time first team all-conference selection. Scored 24 goals with 12 assists. Appeared on All-American watch list.

Aaron Saldana, Elgin, senior, midfielder: All-sectional and all-conference selection. Scored 11 goals with 21 assists, a program record. His 45 career assists are also a program record.

Roberto Salinas, Elgin, senior, defender: All-state selection. Conference’s player of the year and defender of the year. Team MVP. Scored eight goals with 10 assists. Three-time conference, regional and sectional champion.

Power Selemani, West Aurora, senior, forward: Two-time all-sectional. Scored 21 goals with 15 assists. Two-time all-conference choice. Second all-time leading scorer in program history.

Matthew Vandeman, Aurora Central Catholic, junior, midfielder: Led area with 31 goals and added eight assists. An all-sectional and all-conference selection.

Second Team

Jackson Carey, Hampshire, senior, midfielder: All-sectional and all-conference selection. Led team with eight assists and scored 12 goals, including winner over Streamwood in regional final.

Dylan Drendel, Oswego East, senior, midfielder: All-sectional. Two-time all-conference selection. Team MVP. Committed to Green Bay.

Beto Gaytan, Elgin, senior, forward: All-sectional and all-conference selection. Scored eight goals and added 13 assists. Three-time conference, regional and sectional champion.

Anthony Hildreth, Metea Valley, senior, midfielder: All-sectional and all-conference selection. Scored two goals with three assists. Helped the Mustangs offense as a holding midfielder.

Oliver Longosz, St. Charles North, sophomore, forward: All-sectional and all-conference selection. Scored 10 goals and had four assists.

Giovanni Magana, Marmion, senior, forward: All-sectional selection despite missing half the season due to injury. Scored eight goals with six assists.

Matthew Mitchinson, Kaneland, senior, midfielder: All-sectional and all-conference selection. Led the Knights with 17 goals and 12 assists.

Caleb Pankiewicz, Oswego East, senior, defender: Two-time all-sectional honorable mention and two-time all-conference selection. Committed to Ripon.

Adan Rueda, Bartlett, senior, defender: All-sectional honorable mention and all-conference selection. Scored two goals with two assists. Filled in at goalkeeper in one game.

Charlie Terriquez, Hampshire, senior, forward: All-sectional and all-conference selection. Led the Whip-Purs with 17 goals and was second on the team with seven assists.

Jay Umana, East Aurora, senior, midfielder: All-sectional and all-conference selection. Led the Tomcats with 21 goals and 10 assists.

Cade Valek, Waubonsie Valley, senior, defender: All-sectional and all-conference selection while also being the kicker for the football team. Scored six goals.
