Introducing the 2024 News-Sun Football All-Area Team

Lake Forest, Libertyville and Stevenson each has three players on the first team, and Deerfield, Grant, Grayslake North and Warren each has two.

FIRST-TEAM OFFENSE

Cameron Bates, Grayslake North, senior, wide receiver: Made 54 catches for 1,102 yards and 13 TDs. Also rushed for three TDs and returned a kickoff for a TD. All-conference. Dartmouth commit.

Martin Cohen, Antioch, senior, running back: Rushed for 1,368 yards on 125 carries. Totaled 24 TDs. Class 6A all-state, conference offensive player of the year.

Aidan Crawley, Stevenson, junior, quarterback: Completed 105 of 174 passes for 2,078 yards and 21 TDs. Also rushed for 391 yards and five TDs on 52 carries. All-conference.

Blaise LaVista, Libertyville, junior, wide receiver: Made 60 catches for 1,447 yards and 24 TDs. Class 6A all-state honorable mention, all-conference.

Jackson Rudolph, Wauconda, junior, running back: Rushed for 1,309 yards and 24 TDs on 179 carries. Class 6A all-state honorable mention, all-conference.

Quinn Schambow, Libertyville, junior, quarterback: Completed 184 of 249 passes for 3,521 yards and 52 TDs with five interceptions. Class 8A all-state, conference player of the year.

Quinn Schimanski, Deerfield, senior, running back: Totaled 1,124 yards and 10 TDs. Also had 64 tackles, including 12 for loss, with three interceptions, three fumble recoveries, two sacks and a defensive TD. All-conference.

Aaron Stewart, Warren, junior, running back: Rushed for 2,465 yards and 34 TDs on 343 carries. Class 8A all-state, all-conference.

Trae Taylor, Carmel, sophomore, quarterback: Passed for 3,061 yards and 20 TDs. Also rushed for 437 yards and five TDs. All-conference.

Daniel Van Camp, Lake Forest, senior, quarterback: Completed 186 of 279 passes for 2,752 yards and 23 TDs. Also rushed for six TDs. All-conference.

Tyler Zdon, Grant, junior, running back: Rushed for 1,319 yards and 19 TDs on 144 carries. Also had 27 catches for 388 yards and four TDs. Class 6A all-state honorable mention, all-conference.

FIRST-TEAM DEFENSE

Caleb Baczek, Libertyville, senior, linebacker: Had 66 tackles, including 13 for loss and five sacks. All-conference.

Timotei Dan, Lake Forest, senior, linebacker: Had 103 tackles, including five for loss and five sacks, with four pass breakups, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and a TD. All-conference.

George DiCanio, Lake Zurich, senior, linebacker: Had 74 tackles. All-conference.

Finn Goodman, Lake Forest, senior, defensive lineman: Had 48 tackles, including nine for loss and 12 sacks, with an interception, a forced fumble and a pass breakup. All-conference.

Jake Junia, Mundelein, senior, linebacker: Had 83 tackles, three interceptions and two pass breakups. Also had 373 yards and four TDs on 71 carries. All-conference.

Nate Margulis, Deerfield, senior, linebacker: Had 109 tackles, including 16 for loss and five sacks, with two fumble recoveries and a fumble return for a TD. Class 6A all-state honorable mention, all-conference.

Tyler McBride, Grayslake North, senior, linebacker: Had 92 tackles, including six for loss, and two fumble recoveries. Also had 15 catches for 279 yards and four TDs. Class 6A all-state honorable mention, conference defensive player of the year.

Logan Myers, Grant, junior, linebacker: Had 107 tackles, including three for loss, and two interceptions. All-conference.

Antonio Moore, Warren, senior, defensive back: Had 55 tackles, including two for loss, with five interceptions, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. All-conference.

Griffin Suren, Stevenson, senior, linebacker: Had 76 tackles, including 13 for loss and seven sacks, with two interceptions, an interception return for a TD, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Class 8A all-state, all-conference.

D’Angelo Washington, Stevenson, junior, linebacker: Had 83 tackles, including nine for loss and a sack, and a pass breakup. All-conference.
