Illinois State police have shutdown a ramp from Stony Island to the Dan Ryan Expressway Wednesday morning to investigate a fatal shooting after a shooting that killed one person and injured another, officials said.
About 2:20 a.m., troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash with two gunshot victims on the Stony Island ramp heading to northbound I-94, according to an ISP news release.
Before Illinois state police arrived at the scene, a tow truck driver stopped to assist and a shooting ensued. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and another was taken to a local hospital after being wounded by gun fire, officials said.
All lanes remain closed while officials conduct an investigation.
