Jesus Lizard will headline new Warm Love Cool Dreams music festival

The Salt Shed will host a new music festival, Warm Love Cool Dreams, with headliners Jesus Lizard, Kelela, Sister Nancy, Sextile and others over two days in September.

Put on by Empty Bottle Presents, tickets for the Sept. 28-29 festival, announced Tuesday, will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. Organizers called 2024 the inaugural year, saying there were plans to grow the mixed-genre event into a regular Chicago thing. It will be Jesus Lizard’s first Chicago show in six years.

Warm Love lineup Sept. 28:

  • The Jesus Lizard
  • Sextile
  • Provoker
  • King Woman
  • Bendik Giske
  • Aitis Band
  • Stress Positions

Cool Dreams lineup Sept. 28:

  • Kelela
  • Floating Points
  • Sister Nancy
  • Shabaka
  • 454
  • John Glacier
  • SML

The title of the festival is based on a line from the first chapter of Nelson Algren’s Chicago-set book “The Man with the Golden Arm,” about a World War II veteran turned drug-addicted card dealer: “The veteran’s flat, placid, deadpan phiz fixed absently upon an oversized roach twirling its feelers invitingly at him with a half-drugged motion from beneath the radiator: Come on down here where everything is warm love and cool dreams forever.”

Warm Love Cool Dreams is Sept. 28-29 at Salt Shed, 1357 N. Elston Ave.; tickets $49-$200 at www.emptybottle.com
