Kane County and other local agencies that receive money from cash bail are looking at a total loss of about $6.7 million when the state moves away from bail in 2023. That will combine with about $5 million in new annual costs for the county’s justice system to comply with reforms approved by state lawmakers and the governor in February. All this may create a new priority for spending federal American Recovery Act money.
