An Elgin man previously convicted on child porn charges is facing nearly two dozen new counts of owning and distributing child pornography filed by the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Robert J. Dodero, 46, of the 1100 block of Forest Drive, was arrested Jan. 20 following an investigation by the Kane County Child Exploitation Unit, a collaborative partnership for the county’s sheriff’s and state’s attorney’s offices.
Dodero faces 10 counts of disseminating child pornography, a class X felony, and 12 counts of possessing child pornography, a class 1 felony, according to a news release from Kane County officials. Dodero allegedly had digital images and videos depicting sexual abuse involving children under the age of 13, the release said.
Dodero was previously convicted of child pornography in February 2007 in Cook County.
He is being held in the Kane County jail while his case is pending. His next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 31.
