Letters to the Editor: Moeller invites residents to join river cleanup event in Elgin

Moeller invites residents to join river cleanup event in Elgin

For the 10th year in a row, I am proud to join the Friends of the Fox River in hosting a river cleanup event, which this year will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 3, starting at the Gail Borden Public Library in downtown Elgin.

I invite the public to join in this communal event, which will provide practical, hands-on opportunities to enhance the river’s water quality and improve the well-being of our community.

This is an event I look forward to each year. The weather is getting warmer, and summer is on the horizon. What better time than now to work alongside volunteers in helping achieve a future with cleaner water. Protecting the environment should be a top priority for all of us, and there is no natural resource more vital than our water.

While Friends of Fox River will provide some supplies, I encourage those interested in participating to dress for the weather and, if possible, bring gloves, small plastic shopping bags, plastic buckets, water and snacks.

The Fox River is a jewel. Let’s work together to keep it clean and safe!

State Rep. Anna Moeller, D-Elgin
