From the Grammy Awards stage where she made “Album of the Year” history, on to Tokyo for the start of the “Eras Tour” in Asia, to a suite at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to cheer on her Kansas City Chiefs beau in the Super Bowl Sunday, Taylor Swift now takes to the winter night sky locally on Friday nights on the campus of Triton College – sort of.
Triton College’s Cernan Earth and Space Center, at the campus in River Grove, is leaning into Swift’s popularity with “Laser Taylor Swift,” a cosmic light show that started Feb. 10 and runs Friday nights throughout February, officials announced in a news release.
According to the release, the 45-minute show incorporates laser light, thousands of stars and giant digital effects for an experience suitable for the whole family. The shows are open to the public.
“We had a blank space in our schedule and, long story short, knew all too well just which artist to fill it with. We’re enchanted to present ‘Laser Taylor Swift.’ It’s been a long time coming but winter nights feel like the perfect nights to dress up like it’s The Eras Tour all over again,” officials stated in the release.
According to the website of the Recording Academy – which awards the Grammys, this year, Swift became the artist with the most Grammy wins for Album of the Year. Additionally, she won Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for “Midnights” and was nominated for Record of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance and Song of the Year for “Anti-Hero,” and more.
Swift’s next album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” drops April 19.
“Taylor Swift is one of the biggest pop stars on the planet. With over 200 million records sold, a shelf full of Grammys and an army of fans, Taylor Swift is an inspiration for generations,” official stated in the Triton College release.
Tickets for the light show are available at the Cernan Earth and Space Center gift shop. Attendees are encouraged to make friendship bracelets, dress up and prepare to experience their favorite Swift tune in a new way.
“‘Laser Taylor Swift’ takes her biggest hits and brings them to life in dazzling laser light. If you didn’t score tickets to her concert, ‘Laser Taylor Swift’ is the next best thing,” officials stated in the release.
