Lindenhurst woman dies from injuries in Antioch-area motorcycle crash

A Lindenhurst woman has died from injuries she sustained in a weekend motorcycle crash near Antioch, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office.

Coroner Jennifer Banek’s office identified her as 48-year-old Mechelle Hall.

Hall was a passenger on a 1989 Harley-Davidson motorcycle that crashed at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday near Illinois Route 59 and Diemer Street.

Police officers who responded said they found Hall unconscious in the roadway following the accident. She was brought to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. She died there Wednesday from her injuries, the coroner’s office said.

Her death was consistent with blunt force injuries she received in the crash, the coroner said.

The driver of the motorcycle, Gregory Shaer, 51, of the Lake Villa area, has been charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, the sheriff’s office said. He did not sustain serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
