WASHINGTON — Des Watson had 25 points in Loyola’s 72-64 win over Saint Louis on Friday in the Atlantic 10 Tournament quarterfinals.
The fourth-seeded Ramblers (22-10) will play top seed VCU in the semifinals at noon Saturday (CBSSN). Loyola and VCU met once in the regular season, with the Rams winning 84-65 in the conference opener on Jan. 4 at Gentile Arena.
Watson shot 7 of 14 from the field, including 3 of 5 from 3-point range, and went 8 of 9 from the line. Jayden Dawson added 12 points and Sheldon Edwards 10 for Loyola.
Isaiah Swope led the Billikens (19-14) with a game-high 30 points, and Oak Forest’s Robbie Avila added 12 points, six rebounds and two blocks.
Loyola took the lead 3:43 into the game and never relinquished it. Watson scored 14 in the first half to help put the Ramblers up 38-30 at halftime.
