Loyola loses to Duquesne 69-56 in the Atlantic 10 despite Des Watson’s game-high 14 points

PITTSBURGH — Tre Dinkins scored 12 points to help Duquesne beat Loyola 69-56 on Saturday night.

Cam Crawford scored 11 points, David Dixon had 10 points and nine rebounds and Jakub Necas added 10 points for the Dukes (10-14, 5-6 Atlantic 10), who snapped a five-game losing streak.

Des Watson led the Ramblers (14-9, 5-5) with 14 points, six rebounds and two steals. Sheldon Edwards added 11 points and Miles Rubin finished with 10 points and three blocks.

Loyola got little help from its reserves, who were outscored 32-9 by Duquesne’s bench unit.

Duquesne used an early 11-0 run for a six-point lead and held a 34-27 advantage at the break. The Dukes took the lead for good on Crawford’s layup with 11 minutes, 21 seconds remaining in the game.

Duquesne plays Saturday at Dayton. Loyola visits Richmond on Tuesday.
