A 52-year-old man was fatally struck by a vehicle while he was trying to cross the street Thursday night in the Bronzeville neighborhood, Chicago police said.
About 8:15 p.m., a 37-year-old man was headed north in a white sedan in the 4700 block of South King Drive when he struck a man who was crossing the street, police said.
The man suffered trauma to his body, and was taken to UChicago Medicine where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the sedan stayed on the scene, and a witness told police the victim was in the middle of the street crouching down when he was struck. The witness also said the driver of the sedan had the green light when the accident occurred.
Police said a citation was pending. As of Friday morning, the victim had not yet been identified.
