Man, 64, wounded by gunfire from an upstairs residence in South Shore neighborhood

A 64-year-old man and a woman both were wounded overnight from gunfire from an upstairs apartment at a residence in the South Shore neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly before 3:15 a.m., a man was in an apartment in the 7500 block of South Kingston Avenue when a firearm was discharged from an upstairs residence, police said. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the left elbow and was taken in fair condition to UChicagoMedicine, police said.

Later, a woman in the upstairs residence was discovered with a gunshot wound to the right hand, police said. The woman was takken to Jackson Park Community Hospital in good condition, police said.

No one was in custody and detectives were investigating.
