Man, 70, killed in Chatham house fire

A 70-year-old man was killed Sunday night after a fire swept through a Chatham home, officials said.

Firefighters responded to a residence on the 600 block of East 89th Place at around 6 p.m. The man was found unconscious and pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

The man was identified as Howard Criddell by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
