A man has been charged in federal court with robbing a bank in Evanston Aug. 3 and attempting to rob a bank in Chicago the day before, according to federal authorities, who also said the man had served time for a prior bank robbery.
An indictment charges Jeffrey Sulaski, 64, of Chicago, with one count of bank robbery and one count of attempted bank robbery.
The indictment, announced by Morris Pasqual, Acting United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois and Douglas S. DePodesta, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Field Office of the FBI, says Sulaski robbed an Associated Bank branch in Evanston on Aug. 3 and attempted to rob a Huntington Bank branch in Chicago on Aug. 2. Sulaski committed the alleged offenses while on court-supervised release following his imprisonment for a prior bank robbery conviction, the indictment said.
Each count in the indictment is punishable by up to 20 years in federal prison, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.
An arrest does not constitute a conviction.
