Man charged with sex abuse after luring two girls under 13 to Elgin

A Wheeling man faces a slew of felony charges for allegedly luring two girls under the age of 13 to Elgin and sexually abusing one of them, officials said.

Elgin police were called to a business in the 500 block of Airport Road about 4:20 a.m. May 30 in reference to two young girls in the lobby, according to a news release from the Kane County state’s attorney’s office and the Elgin Police Department.

The girls told police they’d traveled to Elgin to meet a man who was going to take them to a gathering. The man, later identified as 26-year-old Anthony C. Ramirez, arranged to have the victims taken to the business and had sexual contact with one of them, the release said.

Ramirez was located, and has been charged with two counts each of aggravated kidnapping-victim under 13 years old, kidnapping, and aggravated criminal sexual abuse-victim under 13 years old as well as one count each of traveling to meet a minor, indecent solicitation of a child through internet, grooming, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and child endangerment. All but the last charge are felonies.

Ramirez is being held at the Kane County jail while awaiting trial.
