Man critically wounded in shooting Thursday night in Englewood neighborhood, cops say

A person was in custody after a 34-year-old man was critically wounded overnight during a fight in the  Englewood neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly before 11:45 p.m., the victim was involved in an altercation with another male in the 5500 block of South Wood Street when the person pulled out a weapon and fired shots, police said.

The victim was taken by paramedics to UChicago Medicine with wounds to the back and abdomen, and listed in critical condition.

The alleged gunman was taken into police custody, and detectives were investigating the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
