Man dies in fiery Barrington Hills crash

Lake County authorities were working Friday to positively identify a motorist who died in a two-vehicle accident two days earlier in Barrington Hills.

The county coroner’s office said it was still working on the identification of the man who died after a fire broke out in his vehicle after the crash. The man died from fire-related injuries, the coroner’s office said Friday.

The crash happened at 8:51 p.m. Wednesday on County Line Road at Bellwood Drive. The man was eastbound in a Ford pickup truck when he struck a westbound Hyundai Palisade head-on, Barrington Hills police said.

The driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver, a 46-year-old Algonquin woman, was brought to a hospital in serious condition, police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
