In the early hours of Saturday morning, a man, 35, was fatally shot on Aurora’s East Side, according to a news release from the Aurora Police Department.
At about 3:34 a.m. on Saturday, Aurora police responded to a report of a person with a weapon on the 400 block of Weston Avenue, Monday’s news release said. Officers found a man with two gunshot wounds when they arrived.
Paramedics provided emergency care and took him to Prime Healthcare Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, where he was pronounced dead at 7:47 a.m., the release said.
Detectives from the Aurora Police Department’s Investigations Bureau and evidence technicians investigated the scene, and the Kane County Coroner’s Office scheduled an autopsy for April 14, the release said.
Preliminary information suggests there had been a dispute between the man who was shot and an acquaintance, according to the release.
The investigation remains ongoing, and investigators are working with the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office to determine any potential criminal responsibility, police said.
Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to contact the Aurora Police Department’s Investigations Division at 630-256-5500, according to the release.
