Man found dead in Buffalo Grove Woodman’s store lot likely died of natural causes: Coroner

A Skokie man found dead in a vehicle parked in the lot of a Buffalo Grove grocery store likely died of natural causes, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office.

Last Saturday at around 3 p.m., Buffalo Grove police and fire departments were called to Woodman’s Market, at 1550 Deerfield Parkway in Buffalo Grove, for a well-being check on a man who was seen inside of a vehicle, according to a coroner’s office news release.

After emergency responders arrived and gained entry into the vehicle the man was pronounced dead at the scene.  The coroner’s office was notified and also came out to the scene. An autopsy was performed Monday.

The coroner’s office identified the dead man as Danny McCoy, 68, of Skokie.

Preliminary autopsy results indicate that McCoy died of natural causes. Still, toxicology tests are pending, the release explains.

Buffalo Grove police say there is no threat to the public, and the death investigation is ongoing.
