A 33-year-old man was shot during an altercation Tuesday morning in Portage, police said, and a 32-year-old man was taken into custody in connection with the shooting.
Portage Police officers responded to the 6600 block of Old Porter Road shortly before 10 a.m. to investigate a report of a shooting, police said.
Police determined the shooting resulted from an altercation between several people who knew each other. The investigation is ongoing.
Portage police thanked the Hobart and Lake Station police departments for their assistance.
