Man in custody after a gun was fired overnight on a CTA bus in Wicker Park

A 34-year-old man was arrested overnight after officers responded to a CTA  bus alarm activated after a gun discharged on a bus traveling in the Wicker Park neighborhood, Chicago police said.

About 1:30 a.m., officers responded to an alarm on a CTA bus traveling in the 1400 block of North Ashland Avenue, where witnesses said a 34-year-old man was on the bus when a gun discharged, police said.

When the bus stopped, the alleged gunman exited. Responding officers were able to place the suspect into police custody.

A weapon was recovered at the scene, and charges were pending. No injuries were reported and detectives were investigating.
