Man killed in fall from Gurnee rooftop

A solar panel installer died when he fell from a Gurnee rooftop Friday, the Lake County Coroner’s Office said.

The coroner’s office identified him Tuesday as Braulio Lozano, 28, of Chicago.

Braulio was installing solar panels on a two-story home in the 2000 block of Liberty Lane when he fell from the rooftop, the coroner’s office. The accident happened at around 3:30 p.m. Friday, authorities said.

Braulio was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center Libertyville, where he was pronounced dead. A Monday autopsy shows the preliminary cause of death consistent with injuries from the fall.

Gurnee police said other workers were on the opposite side of the roof from Lozano, and none of them saw what happened. There is no suspicion of foul play, police said.

The incident remains under investigation by Gurnee police and the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
