A man was killed when his vehicle collided with another car head-on Monday in Grayslake, police said.
The accident happened at around 8:30 a.m. on Illinois Route 83, south of Center Street, according to Grayslake police.
Authorities said the man who died was driving a Chevrolet Malibu south on Route 83 when he ran into the rear of another southbound vehicle. The collision caused the Malibu to drive into the oncoming lane, where it struck a Lexus being driven by a 60-year-old man.
The Malibu driver, who was 30, was brought to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where he was later pronounced dead. The Lexus driver was brought to a hospital for a lower-body injury, police. The driver who was rear-ended was evaluated at the scene and released, police said.,
The identity of the dead man has not yet been released. The accident remains under investigation by Grayslake police and the Major Crash Assistance Team.
