Man sentenced to 20 years in prison for Grayslake shooting

A man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for a fatal 2022 shooting near the College of Lake County in Grayslake.

Andrew Alexander, 18, pleaded guilty Wednesday in Lake County Court to second-degree murder in the death of Isidro Juarez, 23, of Waukegan, prosecutors said.

Juarez was a passenger in a car that was headed west on Washington Street near Lancer Lane on Sept. 17, 2022, when he was hit by gunfire from another vehicle.

Investigators eventually concluded that Alexander was the shooter, and he was taken into custody in May of 2023. At the time, he was a juvenile, but was later transferred to adult court,
