A 26-year-old man was shot Thursday afternoon in what Naperville police are describing as a situation in which the victim and attacker knew each other.
Officers were called to the 700 block of Inland Circle, near Route 59 and North Aurora Road, about 1:35 p.m. on a shooting report and found the victim with a gunshot wound, a Naperville Police Department news release said.
The man was taken to a local hospital but his condition was not known at the time the release was sent at 5 p.m. No details beyond his age were released.
“The preliminary investigation indicated that the victim and offender were known to each other,” the release said. “The shooting appears to have been a targeted incident and there is no apparent threat to the community.”
No information was provided on what might have provoked the shooting, where it occurred and if others might have been involved. The suspect fled before police arrived.
