A vehicle struck a pedestrian who was attempting to cross Dempster Street in Morton Grove on Monday, leaving the pedestrian in critical condition, according to a Morton Grove Police Department news release.
Just after 9 p.m. Monday, Morton Grove police responded to the 6000 block of Dempster, and a preliminary investigation indicated that the 50-year-old man, a Morton Grove resident, was crossing Dempster Street from south to
north when he was struck by a dark blue 2005 Toyota RAV4 traveling westbound on Dempster Street.
The pedestrian was taken to Advocate Lutheran General where he was listed in critical condition, according to police.
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene, and Morton Grove police and the Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) are investigating. Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to call the Morton Grove Police Department at 847-470-5200.
