A 53-year-old man who was attempting to break into a vehicle overnight was shot by the vehicle’s owner during a struggle in the Austin neighborhood, Chicago police said.
Shortly before 2:30 a.m. Thursday, a man was trying to break into a vehicle when he was confronted by the owner in the 300 block of North Mayfield Avenue. A struggle ensued and the man was shot to the right shoulder, police said.
The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was listed in good condition.
Detectives were investigating the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
