Two men were recently separately charged for car fires in Gary and Hammond.
Debery Coleman, 53, of East Chicago was charged Nov. 21 with arson. He posted a $2,500 cash bond Monday.
Gary Police responded Sept. 20 to the 1800 block of Mississippi for a burning vehicle.
A woman told police that her boyfriend woke her up when he noticed his Volkswagen Atlas on fire. Her mother had broken up with Coleman that evening, court records state.
Coleman was caught on a Ring door camera, documents show.
His next court date is Dec. 4.
Elsewhere, a Joliet man is charged in an unrelated Hammond car fire.
Corey Shelby-Williams, 29, was charged Nov. 22 with arson and criminal mischief.
He has not been jailed and is ordered held without bail.
Hammond cops responded around 4:30 p.m. July 21 to the 200 block of Waltham Street.
Police learned he threw lighter fluid on the Chevrolet Impala, before he set it on fire.
The victim, his ex-high school classmate, told cops he had been driving her around for her DoorDash gig, but they had started arguing on July 16 and he threw a glass at her. She called the cops to kick him out.
License plate readers appeared to show he was in the area at the time.
