A Minnesota man has been charged in a shooting that occurred this weekend involving Chicago police.
Tiresias Young, 45, of Duluth, Minnesota, was arrested minutes after the shooting on the 1500 block of North Massasoit Avenue and is now facing two counts of first-degree attempted murder, police said.
The shooting took place around 12:45 am Saturday on the 5700 block of West North Avenue where Young shot a 36-year-old man and then fired shots at two Chicago police officers, striking their squad car, police said. One officer returned fire, however, no officers were injured, police said.
Three firearms were recovered at the scene, police said.
Officers gave the victim first aid, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, police said. His condition is unknown.
The Civilian Office of Police Accountability is investigating the incident, and the officers involved will be placed on routine administrative duties.
Young is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
