Missing Chicago man found shot to death near Riverdale, another body found in Ford Heights

Cook County sheriff’s police are investigating the shooting death of a Chicago man who had gone missing from his home and whose body was found Wednesday.

Police responded Wednesday to the Kickapoo Woods Forest Preserve near Riverdale to conduct a death investigation at the request of the Cook County Forest Preserve Police Department.

Sheriff’s police detectives learned that a 25-year-old man, later identified as Arron Neal, was found in the forest preserve with gunshot wounds at about 2 p.m.. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kickapoo Woods is west of Halsted Street and south of 144th Street near Riverdale, according to the forest preserve district.

Neal, of the 7100 block of South Oakley Avenue in Chicago, died of multiple gun shot wounds, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office, which ruled his death a homicide.

Sheriff’s police said the investigation is ongoing and asked anyone with information to call investigators at 708-865-4896.

Calumet Park

A Calumet Park man was shot to death in Chicago Oct. 19, according to authorities.

Chevelle Carter, 32, of the 12800 block of South Ida Street, was shot at about 8:40 p.m. in the 3800 block of South Ellis Avenue in Chicago, according to police.

Shots were fired at him by two men who fled in a vehicle, police said.

Carter was pronounced dead at the University of Chicago Medical Center in Chicago at 9:10 p.m.

The medical examiner’s office said Carter suffered multiple gunshot wounds and ruled his death a homicide.

Ford Heights

Sheriff’s police said they are also conducting a death investigation after a body was found Thursday afternoon in Ford Heights, where the sheriff’s department operates as the village’s police force.

Sheriff’s police said at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday they responded to a report of a body found near Woodlawn Avenue and 15th Place.

Detectives are investigating and ask anyone with information to call 708-865-4896.

The medical examiner’s office said the body had not been identified as of Friday afternoon.
