Naperville house nearly gutted in fire that caused an estimated $300k in damage

A daytime fire caused an estimated $300,000 in damage to a Naperville home located near Ogden Avenue and Fort Hill Drive, officials said.

Firefighters dispatched to the single-family house in the 700 block of Wildflower Court about 12:35 p.m. Wednesday arrived the side and roof of the home fully engulfed, a Naperville Fire Department news release said. Because the flames were extending to a neighboring residence, additional firefighters and equipment were called in.

The blaze was brought under control in about 45 minutes with the work of nearly four dozen firefighters and fire officials, the release said. An additional hour was needed to ensure all hot spots were extinguished.

Residents were able to leave the house uninjured but their home was deemed uninhabitable by the Naperville Transportation, Engineering and Development department.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Naperville firefighters were assisted by the Bolingbrook, Lisle-Woodridge, Warrenville, Oswego, Plainfield and Westmont fire departments.
