Naperville man’s body pulled from DuPage River in Burlington Park Forest Preserve

A 44-year-old Naperville man was found dead Saturday in the West Branch of the DuPage River in the Burlington Park Forest Preserve.

Preliminary findings indicate foul play was not involved in the death of the man, whose identity has not been released, according to a news release from the Forest Preserve District of DuPage.

An autopsy was done Monday by the DuPage County Coroner’s Office but no tentative cause of death has been released.

Naperville and district police officers were alerted to the body’s discovery in the unincorporated 1002 Douglas Ave. preserve about 2:55 p.m., according to a district news release.

After its removal, police secured the perimeter to investigate the scene, Naperville police Cmdr. Rick Krakow said Monday. The case is being handled by forest preserve district police, he said.

In its release, the district said there is no threat to public safety. Burlington Park Forest Preserve remains open to the public.
